Welcome to The Lists
This Is My Favorite Way of Sorting My Thoughts
Lists have slowly but surely become my favorite way or organizing my thoughts. Something abput tierlists, in an exact and ordered way is very satisfying and easy to present to others. Suffice to say, I am likely, in some way, autistic. Moving on.
Favorite Rainbow High Dolls
Rainbow High/Shadow High was the first doll series I started collecting freshman year of college. Something about them spured my interest in fashion, design, and doll making. I was very much a tom boy child and hated everything I deemed "girly". So I never grew up with Barbie, baby dolls, Disney princess dresses, or anything else. But something about these dolls helped me embrace my feminine side.
Something about her called to me, as she was one of my first dolls that I owned. Her glamour, her style, her confidence. Along with the representation of a person with vitiligo, I thought was super cool. I just love her. I dote on the doll I hate of her like a child.
I will admit that I do not own a doll of her yet, but she is at the top of the list of dolls I want!! She's just so precious and adorable, and reminds me of my friend who dresses like a soft fairy girl. She's SUPER cute. Plus I find the use of freckles and body blush unique, and makes her stand out among the doll line.
I like her purely because of the animated show. As bad and childish as the show is, I do enjoy the characters and petty drama. Bella is a great character, and I find her outfits nostalgic and cute. And her pink leather jacket is one of my favorite pieces. Punk can be pink! To be collected as well.
Peaches are some of my favorite, plus I spent a lot of time in Georgia for much of my later teen years. Something about her is familiar too. A lot of the girls I knew dressed like this, and I always admired their confidence. I dream of owning her doll someday!
Specifically this version of Amaya, from the Fantastic Fashion line, with her white hair that compliments the shape of her dress, plus the use of rainbow tulle and the subtleness of her hair is really nice.
Favorite Transformers Characters
Transformers has been an in-and-out interest I have had since I was a child. From watching Transformers: Animated back in 2007, to later reading the comics right around the time COVID hit. It was a convenient interet to develop since I had no reason to go outside, didn't have any friends around since I just moved, and suddenly, a bunch of free time. It was around then that I started reading the G1 IDW comics, reccomended through someone on Twitter who kept talking about it. I easily read all of it in a span of a few months. Absolutely bawled my eyes out multiple times, especially about More Than Meets The Eye and Lost Light. Do not expect many (if any) characters from other media besides the G1 IDW comics, because those ones really got to me.
Must I explain Megatron from these comics? Going from murderous, powerhungry tyrant, to the kind, gentle, and soft Co-Captain of the Lost Light. With magnificent writing by James Roberts, and great art by Alex Milne, Jack Lawrence, and many others that deserve high praises for their work. What a character. I think about him constabtly, at early morning and into late hours of the night. Truthfully, I have written countless thoughts about him. Essays, thoughts, rants, tirades, poetry, anything. There is no way I can summarize how I feel about him. So I will leave you with:
"You flare, you flicker, you fade, and all your tomorrows become yesterdays."
What isn't there to love about the traitorous bastard that is Starscream? Sassy, smart, and a hell of a character no matter what you are consuming, he always takes up space as a fantastic and hilarious antagonist. There is always something about him, whether I'm rewatching Animated, Prime, Cyberverse or Earthspark, he always captures my heart. Plus, I have a soft spot for a gay feminine man, even if I'm just projecting onto him.
The former Chief Justice of the Tyrest Accord, the "immortal lawman", and stiff Autobot soldier, this bot had an interesting life. Dreaming of more than his station is life thanks to an oppressive government, he rose to be a great figure, but suffered the loss of knowing who he was. He hid in a larger set of armor, called the Magnus Armor, which fixed his morality a certain way, and when he showed the slightest empathy and kindness to those of darker ethics, his title was stripped from him. Befriending Megatron, realizing who he was as a person besides law enforcement, and eventually giving up his accomplishments, status, titles and the bot he was for millenia, was amazing to read. I truly admire his capacity for change. Something about him is charming, sweet, and appealing. To watch him grow into his own personhood (bothood?) and to see his relationship with Megatron grow. Truly astounding.
I love a good poet. That is not what Thundercracker is in this comic, but he sure is a decent playwright and movie director. Going from Decepticon Seeker, working with Starscream, to leaving the cause, faking his death, adopting a dog named Buster, and later falling in love with shitty TV shows, and living on Earth. There is something about him going from soldier to bad movie director that made him so funny in my eyes. I eagerly looked forward to every scene with him, enjoyed his love for his dog Buster, and made sure to track every move he made. I don't take him super seriously, unlike the character above him, he's just my good little comic relief guy.
My love for Brainstorm is more of a recent development. I started thinking about the effort he put in to "fix" the future. He worried so much for the well-being of his entire planet and speciest that he broke physics itself, and made a time machine. He wso badly wants to be praised for his work, to be recognized as a worthy scientist, that he will work out side of normal ethics to do so. Something about that is admirable. SOmethign baout that is also relatable. He's also just kind of funny and reckless, bringing a sense of wildness to the story.
